Luli Russo is a self-taught artist from Argentina who has been working with hand embroidery on found photographs since 2013.
She began stitching on paper while solo travelling around Europe, initially incorporating thread into her collages to add colour and texture.
Her work explores memory, nostalgia and the stories attached to discarded images, and it has been exhibited in Buenos Aires, London, Brighton and Rotterdam. Since 2018, she’s also hosted several workshops where she teaches her photo-embroidery technique.
Now based in Brighton, Luli continues to work with found photographs, using embroidery to reinterpret and transform these images, while her background in collage continues to influence her visual approach.
